I love fall; the foliage, the football and {duh} the food!
Pumpkin picking and carving is a tradition and with that, comes roasting the seeds. They are the best.
Please tell me you’ve had some…you haven’t lived until you’ve had pumpkin seeds. Or at the very least, marshmallows in your apple crisp.
I’ll stop rambling and get right to the point. While most of you enjoy eating these little treats, getting them out of the pumpkin…and cleaned…is a bit of a hassle. A pain. Just plain annoying.
Wait no more. Here’s a quick trick. Are ya ready?
Fill a large bowl 2/3 full of water. As you scoop the seeds out of the pumpkin, place them in the water. Most of the “guts” will sink and the seeds will float.
You can use a slotted spoon, or other tool of your choice, to grab the seeds.
Not only does it make the job a bit easier, but it cleans them at the same time. Place them on a paper towel to dry and you’re ready to follow your favorite roasting recipe.
This is amazing. I know.
I also know that I should probably put one of my favorite pumpkin seed recipes on here.
I wish there was more time in the day. And that pumpkin flavored anything was acceptable year round.
Until then, I’ll simply enjoy the seeds while I can.
XO
