A couple of months ago, I read two books while on vacation. It was heavenly. The Couple Next Door and Reconstructing Amelia were both great suspenseful reads. I couldn’t stop reading either of them and was completely entranced by their stories…however, when looking for my next book, I wanted something just as captivating but also a little different.
That’s the wonderful thing about reading…a lot of people do it and enjoy talking about each and every book. Put one little question on Facebook {Does anyone have a great book that they recommend?} and the book titles just come pouring in. Sarah’s Key came highly recommended by multiple friends, not only was that great, but suddenly the very next morning, it was sitting on my desk. A co-worker had seen the recommendations and brought it in for me to borrow.
And then I read it in three days.

Taking place in both 2002 and 1942, the story follows an American journalist living in Paris as she researches the Vel’ d’Hiv’s for it’s 60th anniversary. As she is researching her next article, the story goes back and forth following Sarah, a 10 year old girl who was arrested during the round-up and Julia Jarmond {the journalist}, unlocking more information on the tragic events of the past and how her family is connected to them.
I’ve been told that some people had a hard time bouncing back between Sarah and Julia’s storytelling, but honestly, I never did. I liked how the suspense stayed in this book like the past few I’ve read, but I also liked the history that was intertwined as well. It was a nice change.
I absolutely recommend this book, guys! And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
